REFLECTION:

WOW! I think I just wow-ed myself! I really had no idea that I had made so much progress with the inches! I knew things were fitting way looser, but you know what we do in our heads- we think “oh, I must have stretched these out the last time I wore them”, or “oh! Its cause they are not fresh out of the wash! That’s when they feel the tightest!” ha! Why do we continue to do that to ourselves?! NO MORE! I’m going to be content and not excuse myself when the true inner me is saying “LOOK HOW MUCH CLOSER YOU ARE!” And with new clothing I have purchased I right away think “this MUST be mis-labeled- there’s no way I fit into a 6 or a 4!” (well the 4 I do own, I really think that the brand must run big, because I do not feel like I can pick up any 4 and fit into them- but I will soon!)

This challenge has been awesome for me. I felt so empowered by what I was able to prove to myself and accomplish. As many of you know this is not the beginning nor the end of my personal journey to fitness. This is a lifelong race and I intend on continuing to wow myself and others. I am crying as I see my stats and my pictures, I had really convinced the old Rossy that this was impossible, that I would never get there. Now I look at my original pictures (from may 08) and I don’t even recognize that woman. She isn’t me, she was a sad, fat and hopeless girl who hated herself. I am nothing like her. I am happy, satisfied, excited, eager, confident, inspiring, hott, yummy and extremely hopeful for what is to come.

This challenge has pushed me to become leaner, think leaner, think stronger, except the changes that occurring in my body and embrace them! I am becoming fit! I keep on trying to categorize myself as fat or chubby, but I don’t think I can do that anymore. I’m actually starting to feel…. Dare I say! Not fat! Wow, I actually am JUST realizing this! I’m not fat! Now don’t get me wrong! I still have a ways to go, and I still have goals! There is no end or finishing point, if there were this would not be called a fitness JOURNEY, it would be a fitness trip… and that’s not what I am on.

Well, I feel so all over the place with this, ok- Mentally I have grown a lot, I now am embracing the new me and it excites me to see where I will go from here, cause I can only get leaner, fitter, stronger! I am allowing myself to not be fat and trap myself in the fat girl mind set. I don’t have emotional break downs cause nothing fits, or cause my jeans cut off my circulation. If anything I cannot find anything that doesn’t look sloppy! I allow myself to indulge, I don’t beat myself up for any bad choices. I look in the mirror and I smile, I am actually loving myself- and that’s something I think I have never done in my life, since I can remember I had hated my body. I remember as early as five years old I would look at my big belly and be sad. I remember using my birthday wishes as a child to wish myself skinny. Wow, this is really emotional!

Okay, enough crying! Nutrition- I have come a long way here. I crave good nutrition, I am excited to try new things, I love the online planner and feel like it’s a sort of balancing game I am always wanting to win. But all at the same time I am not OBSESSED with it. I allow myself to indulge, maybe sometimes more then I should. I have gotten out of the mentality of rewarding myself or allowing myself to indulge based on the fact that I worked out. I no longer workout more so I can eat more, but I eat to support the workouts I do- SO DIFFERENT! I started the Challenge by doing the Elimination Diet for the 2nd time. I also challenged some of my friends to do it with me on my fitness blog- www.FatmomtoFitmom.com- I had 10 participants and the ones that went all the way through were so blessed to learn about their bodies and get over the plateaus they were experiencing. And I was blessed to have their support and to support them. I am now committed to doing the ED every 6 months challenging myself to be even stricter with it, in November 2009 I plan to do a completely raw Elimination Diet, I will have to do some research about all that as it gets closer! I am currently trying the carb rotation diet and it has been awesome. I am doing this for the sole purpose of training myself to include carbs in my diet and to balance them. I had always thought carbs=bread, and I know that is not true so I am learning lots right now!

Workouts- I did not do the FYM workouts like I wanted to, but that was because I did not want to overtrain as I was doing a lot with my new job as a group fitness instructor! I got hired in June and had my first class on June 30th, since then I have had 3 more classes and have been practicing for my 10+ more classes I have in August! I absolutely LOVE teaching group fitness! I am fuelled by the energy and excitement the other women bring, but I can tell that I have a growing desire to become a personal trainer and also get some type of certificate in nutrition! I love helping women figure out the mystery of fitness and nutrition and get results! But before then I want to achieve my goals, I want to look like a personal trainer! I want to look as fit & yummy as Holly!

I had a amazing time with this challenge and I am looking forward to the next where I plan to be much more active here at clubFYM, you ladies simply amaze me and fuel me with the motivation and inspiration to continue my journey strong! I am honored to be part of this amazing and blessed community!

GOALS:
1. I will get down to 25% body fat by the end of the challenge.-I’m down to 25.9% I am very please with this accomplishment!
2. I will be content with what ever number that is on the scale.- I am! Seeing that my weight went down as did my body fat % is great confirmation that I am going about this in an effective and healthy way!
3. I will get my waist & BB down under 30″- got my waist down to 28.5”! Belly button is at 30.25”- so close, I’m still very happy with this!
4. I will get my hips/booty down under 40″- Well, this is a funny one, my hips and largest part of my booty have always been the same place….until now! I now have a distinction between them! And the largest of the 2 (booty of course!) is at 40”!
5. I will complete the 30 days of the Elimination Diet beginning 5/1- check! This was awesome!
6. I will eat clean for the entire challenge- so this one did not happen, but looking at it now, that was kinda a silly goal, I should have put 80% of the time!
7. I will complete each and every workout- I remained active the whole time!
8. I will do this with my all, 100% of myself- I did, and I learned that giving my 100% may not equal perfection, and that is ok!
9. I will only step on the scale once a week to do my weekly weigh-in on Peertrainer.com- I did great with this for the first half, I have been stepping on more often since I started the carb rotation diet, I am doing this so I can see how my body reacts to high, low or no carb days- this has not developed into an obsession as it has before.
10. I will only do a waist and hips measurement once a week for my peertrainer.com group. all other measurements will wait for the end of the challenge.-yup!
11. At the end of this challenge I want to feel good in my own skin, I want to wear a bikini no matter the stretch marks. I want to feel hott! I want to reflect on the outside what I feel on the inside.- I did this! I wore a bikini in front of my family! Last weekend I did a 5k mudrun with my familia and had no problem stripping down to my bikini and chilling like that while I got cleaned up, afterwards I actually left my bikini top on as a top while we all hung out! I wanted to work on my belly tan J
12. At the end of this challenge I want to have completely transformed my nutritional habits and not just finish the Elimination Diet and go back. I have no business having what I used to have in my cupboards, or eating what I used to eat.-I do feel like I have accomplished this! I have not purchased the things we used to have, I am very careful and I read ingrediants. I mostly just buy everything fresh. The best part about it is that my hubby is super happy with this change and doesn’t miss anything! Praise God!

Here’s to the next challenge and your personal journey!!

Lets go girls! We can do it!

New Years Resolutions Revised!

So yesterday got me thinking, half the year is gone, we never get that back! So I looked back at my New Year’s resolutions that I made public via Twitter (follow me at twitter.com/rossyruppe) and I wanted to spend a day thinking about them.  Since half the year is gone,  I only have another 6 months to get my goals accomplished.

But wait, resolutions aren’t real! They are just some silly promise we say to make the new year seem more exciting and they are unrealistic goals anyway, right?!

WRONG! Why would you lie to yourself about a promise you make in your heart? Why would you set an unrealistic goal if you didn’t really want to accomplish it? WHY??!! That’s just, well it’s dumb- yet we have all done it. I know I have had the same new years resolution and birthday wish since I was five years old- to lose weight. I was a chubby kid and I hated it. Being teased about my weight from my, well lets just say people close to me so no hurt feelings :), well being teased sucked. It made me feel like I had to do something, but I didn’t know how. Well that’s a whole different post, because I am a huge advocate for not teasing kids about weight, but educating them and raising them to love clean eating and being active.

Ok- my new year’s resolution for 2009 (12:43 AM Jan 1st from TwitterFox) :

1-lose another 30lbs

2-get my beachbody business going

3-make more friends

4-keep my home clean

5-win more stuff!!

Now, let’s look and revise!

1- lose another 30lbs: I had lost 30 lbs at this point and since then I have lost another 20…. not bad for 6 months, so I will revise and I will shoot for another 20lbs revising this resolution to – lose 40lbs in 2009 making a grand total of 70lbs lost. I know I can and I will do this!

2- get my Beachbody business going: well, I haven’t done much with this. I love beachbody and I love the idea of making $ with it and helping people get active, but I can share and encourage, but I cannot force anyone to want to change their body and life. I pray that in helping more people maybe there will be more order through my website (www.TeamBeachbody.com/rruppe). On that note, feel free to order workout programs or supplements through my site. Beachbody has amazing programs and products. I love that their focus is getting people active and not about some craze or fat products or pill. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of their products to order 🙂 Revised resolution- get business cards and start promoting business through people interested in my transformation.

3- make more friends: God has been really amazing in this department. He has brought some amazing people into our lives and I have been very blessed by their friendship. Praise the Lord! Revised resolution- encourage and love the people God has placed in my life.

4- Keep my home clean: Well, I still feel like we are in the simplifying mode. There is plenty I need to go through, get rid of and clean clean clean! I really want to get this under control the next few months! Revised resolution- De-clutter and simplify home, get rid on unnecessary items, organize and clean what I have and be a good steward of the things God has blessed me with.

5- win more stuff!: I love winning stuff! I am currently in a challenge through clubfym.com (check it out!) and I am hoping to be a finalist in the challenge again, we have 3 weeks left. Other then that I’m not in the running for any other prizes… any suggestions? Revised resolution- keep myself challenged, either through competition or self motivation.

I feel really good about my resolutions and where they are 6 months into the year, but revisiting and revising them was a really awesome confirmation that 2009 really is a year of complete change for me!

What were your resolutions? How are they coming along? I challenge you to revisit and revise your resolutions. Don’t let them be in vain again this year, 2009 is a great year and now is a great time to accomplish the things you truly desire for yourself!

Making Daddy Proud

I don’t quite remember if my Pops ever actually said these words to me, but he must have said something or did something that has left a permanent imprint on my life.

“You can do anything, you can be anyone, there is nothing out of reach for you. Work hard and you will get there!”

Again, I have no actual memory of this life lesson, but I have always felt it was something my dad taught me or at least wanted to teach me.

These past couple of weeks has been pretty emotional for me.  I started thinking of this blog as I was visiting my father at Riverside Memorial Cemetery on Memorial day where my Pops has been residing for the past 12 years. His 69th birthday had just passed. I rediscovered that time hasn’t healed me, but what I have gone through during that time has made me stronger. The drive up was a nice time to reflect on what had happened this last year, how much I have accomplished during my Journey to Fitness. It made me smile as I realized how proud my father would be of me.

So what have I accomplished? I have officially reached my 50lbs lost mark! I distinctly remember writing down my goals when I started my journey (this was before I thought of it as a journey). I wrote down that I would like to lose 50lbs. Then I laughed inside and thought- yeah right! I’d have to lose a couple of limbs for that. Well, here I am, all limbs still intact and I am in fact 50lbs lighter. I started at 201lbs…. that’s 25% of my weight, gone! and gone forever. I have also been able to shed 12.5″ from around my waist alone, I have yet to see how many from the various places I measured at originally (I now wish I measured every inch of me, including fingers and toes!). I have also dropped from 37.5% body fat to 29%.

Now what? Stop? keep going? shed another 50lbs? go back to my old ways? Well, if I went back to my old ways after all that I learned I hope you’d smack me when you saw me! As I have mentioned before this is a journey, about 20lbs ago I realized that this journey is not about a particular number on the scale- even though that can be one way to measure it, it is not even about losing inches it’s about taking care of the body God has blessed us with. The fat loss is just a natural side effect of clean eating and appropriate exercise.

I’m not done, I will continue on this journey for the rest of my life. I do have goals for the near future. I would like to be down to 25% body fat by September when I hope and pray I will be able to get my personal training certification. When I get there I will reflect and revise my goals, that’s how I roll.

If you would have told the old fat Rossy that, I would have laughed at you, but something my heavenly father has taught me is that “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27.

Before:                                                             After:

say goodbye to the old Rossy

say goodbye to the old Rossy

Say Hello to the new Rossy!

Say Hello to the new Rossy!

Diets are like bad parenting- NOT EFFECTIVE!

We’ve all experienced bad parenting moments. Whether it was at the mall, the grocery store or in our living room. We’ve all seen it; and we can all agree on one thing- it doesn’t work! Diets are just like bad parenting. A “oh don’t do that Johnny… johnny… ok- here is some candy” is just like your lame attempt of dieting.

You take one thing away only to give it right back to yourself later. Carbs, fat, low calorie, no carbs, high protein- so many more. And for what? for 5lbs that creep back on plus some later right? or maybe the scale hasn’t moved, but you know your body- maybe those jeans just don’t look like they used to, but they must have shrunk in the dryer…. right.

And to take it even further, does eating right have to be about losing weight? WAIT! reverse that- does that mean when you eat “wrong” you are trying to gain weight? just some stuff for you to think about

The real title of this blog post is:

Why I hate diets & love the Elimination Diet

I’ve tried a lot in my 25 years, starting fairly young with cabbage soup diet, weight watchers, starving myself, no carbs….etc and during all those times I never learned anything about myself. Nope, that did not happen until I did the Elimination Diet.

It was not until the Elimination Diet that I realized how freeing it felt to not be a slave to sugar, to soda, to fat, to chocolate! Yup I was a slave to them, I thought of them all the time. I would imagine chili cheese fries and salivate. Imagine the chocolate-iest thing I could imagine and wish I could dive into a pool of it. I was addicted!

So back to the Elimination diet- its a detox, not a poop in your pants cause everything is evacuating type of detox (for those of you familiar with other cleanses that have you drink concoctions and shakes). This detox is for 30 days and basically removes those things that are enslaving you to poor nutrition and allows you to conquer them and learn about your body.

I am lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive. I always thought that being puffy, have frequent tummy aches and irregularity was a normal part of life- it’s not! But I would have never been able to hear my body without freeing myself from those very things inflicting harm to it. Who would have thought all those “healthy” 100% whole wheat things were making me swell up like a balloon! or that my creamer in my coffee is why I felt like I was going to die later that evening. Being able to know my body and not give it things that do not make it feel good is such an empowering feeling.

So I’m not “dieting” while I am on the Elimination Diet (day 14- thank you very much!). I am learning about my body and giving it what it needs to work right. But you know what- fat loss is just a great side effect of good nutrition. Take a look at what you eat… are you addicted to something? Is your body screaming to be freed of some toxins you continually give it?

Why do we do it? Learn here from a man who was determined to learn why he couldn’t resist food and why his weight always yo-yoing: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/26/AR2009042602711.html

Tomorrow I Begin the Next Part of my Journey

I like calling it my Journey to Fitness, cause I’m not just “dieting” or am “in a phase” or “being careful with what I eat” you get the point. This is part of my life now. No turning back, just moving forward and closer and closer to becoming that woman I always dreamed of, but thought it was just that, a dream. I can finally see her, she is so close!

Tomorrow I begin the next part of my Journey, tomorrow I start the most disciplined 30 days of my life. I and 5 others will be doing the Elimination Diet. If you look back at my prior posts you can read more about it, or go here: http://www.daxmoy-pts.co.uk/elimination.pdf for the actual instructions.

I love a good challenge and so I thought it would be awesome to do a challenge through my new blog here, and I really feel like this is the start point of my fitness career! I am so proud and empowerd that I have 5 others who have taken a step up and decided to join me. I am still shooting for 10 by the end of the day 🙂

So to my participants: please reply to this post with your name and why you want to do this, even if it is cause I guilted you into it 🙂 I also want you to take a before picture (which you can keep private or e-mail me), take a few measurements (your waist and hips for sure!), weigh yourself and take a deep breath. We are in this together and we will get through it! You will be so blessed with this process.

It’s not about losing weight, but it’s about getting healthy. I heard it put like this “every fit person is not necessarily healthy, but every healthy person is fit”. Made me think of nutrition in a whole new light, it’s not just a way to lose weight, but you really clean your body and be healthy.

I am a big believer in the fact that our God says our body is a temple, remember how Jesus reacted when He saw the filth in the temple? I think about this now when I go to put things in my mouth. Is it pure? Is it glorifying to the Lord?

This will be an interesting next 30 days, my husband is doing the Elimination Diet with me and I have removed every processed item from our kitchen, please join us and keep us in prayer as we begin this journey together!

It’s not too late! Join us! as I posted before, there will be a PRIZE for the biggest change!

Why join?! Because the next 30 days of your life is going to pass by anyway, why not dedicate yourself to treating your body the way the Lord intended it 🙂 Hope you join us! The more competition the better!

Email your starting stats/pics to me: rbustillos@gmail.com I will never share your information without your permission!

I challenge you!

I will not turn down a challenge…. . There is something about a challenge that gets me pumped, there is something about winning things that is so motivating for me.

Well, I have a challenge for you! Join me as I get ready to do the Elimination Diet for the month of May, well May 1-30. All I am asking from you is to do something nice for your body for 30 days! That’s it! I am asking EVERYONE who reads this to participate, the more the better! It is very simple, very doable and very beneficial.

Why? Why would you or anyone want to do the Elimination Diet? Let me answer your question  with some more questions, just for fun. Would you like to feel good? Would you like to know why you get all those mysterious headaches, body aches, constipation, migraines, tummy aches, swelling, bloating, gas, etc?  Would you like to get rid of some lbs of fat? I’m not saying you have to have all those symptoms to do this, but I think almost everyone suffers from at least one of those on occasion. Are you always sick? fatigued? Have no energy? Feel depressed, sad, lost or frazzled? So I basically described pretty much everyone right? Well, the Elimination Diet can really open your eyes to your nutrition and allow you to understand and listen to your body. Nutrition effects our bodies so much, and it suffers so badly when you’re constantly giving it crap or nothing to run on.

How does the Elimination Diet work? Like I said it’s doable, easy and only 30 days! Come on! we can do 30 days! This link is to the diet: http://www.daxmoy-pts.co.uk/elimination.pdf, everything is there. It tells you word for word what to do. I highly recommend to print it out and read it over,  and have handy as a resource as you get started.

Will you join me? Will you finally do something nice for your body? What do you have to lose? A couple lbs of fat, those chronic pains, annoying fatigue?

There can be nothing bad to come from this, so why won’t you join? Please comment below if you are in! and lets see how much we can accomplish this May 1st-30th!! Who’s in?!

The prize: Well, since I’m pretty confident that we are all going to rock this, I am offering a prize. Unfortunately my poorness does not allow me to know what that is for now, but there will be a prize for the biggest change! Now all I gotta do it kick all your butts at this so I can keep whatever awesome prize I come up with for myself! ha! But seriously, if you participate, post a comment saying so and then updating us with your changes after we complete the 30 days. The biggest change will win a prize! Please weigh yourself, get your body fat % read somewhere, measure yourself a few places (waist, belly button, chest, hips & where ever else you’d like) and take a picture- I seriously recommend this because often times we cannot see the changes in ourselves, but a picture can help us see our results. You may keep this information private if you’d like or post them in the comments. I will be posting my beginning stats on May 1st!

We can do it!

first things first!

When I started my journey to fitness in March of 2008 I was lost, but I had motivation; 1- my daughter and husband &  2- my pre-pregnancy jeans.

When I got home from the hospital and quickly grabbed my jeans and put my feet into the legs of the jeans and pulled them up. I was still bent over when the tops of my jeans with zipper undone came to an abrupt stop at the bottom of my thighs. Though this and stepping on the scale the same day were the most depressing realizations of my life I was determined! I didn’t know how, or when, but I was going to get those jeans back on!

At this point of my life I knew two truths about losing weight; 1- I needed to eat less & 2- I needed to workout longer.

It was about 5 months of working out 2-3 hours a day 5-6 days a week and eating what I thought was about 1000-1200 calorie diet before I found out that my fitness truths were the biggest lies!

I don’t even know how, but I stumbled upon an amazing resource called clubfym.com. There is where my whole world was rocked and everything I thought I knew about getting fit was thrown out the window.

I will blog about clubfym in the very near future; I really urge you to check it out yourself, but for now I want to clear up something I think EVERYONE will think is crazy- to lose the weight I have in the last 6 months I have eaten MORE then I have ever in my life! Yup, you heard right, I eat waaaayy more now then I did ever before and I am still losing weight!

What stops you from wanting to believe me is the programing we have all done in our minds that eating less(aka- dieting)= losing weight. But let me school you a bit 🙂 Your body is an amazing machine perfectly designed to work in your best interest and keep you alive. So with that let me explain some extreme basics of nutrition.

Calories=energy

your body uses energy for EVERYTHING that is does, breathing, eating, digesting and every other function your body does without you doing anything to actually get it done. So your body needs energy! another words- your body needs calories. Naturally you want to know how many, your BMR basal metobalic rate- is your bare minimum. Your BMR is what your body needs to do all of those basic things. Before I help you find that number (which is different for everyone, let me explain further). If you are currently eating lower then your BMR then you are telling your body that you will not give it the minimum it needs to stay alive and this is when your body goes into starvation mode; holding onto anything it can to keep itself alive. Want to guess what form it keeps it in? You guessed it! FAT! yay!

So! if you are eating below your BMR, cause of whatever lie you have bought into, but you are so frustrated cause eating should= losing weight OR you say, well I’ll eat less for like 2 weeks and I can drop 5lbs and then I’m fine. Let me school you some more. Dropping your calories will make you lose weight, but the drop on the scale is going to be water weight or worse, muscle loss!

Then you may come back at me and say “I don’t care what I lose, I just want to lose lbs!” I beg of you to keep on reading and listen to this! Muscle is where your metabolism lives! Muscle burns fat! Muscle takes up less space! You lose muscle if like you are losing horses pulling a chariot. Less horses pulling, the harder the others have to work to pull the weight. Get it? more horses= easier, faster, smoother ride. I’ll get off my muscle soapbox now and return to my calorie one 🙂

ok, lets recap; BMR= the least amount of calories you can eat to keep your body alive, you go under your BMR and you are spinning your wheels and packing on more fat- no matter how hard you work out.

Now, lets visit the other end of spectrum. Max calories (for someone wanting to maintain or lose weight) is your TDEE(total daily energy expenditure). This takes into account your BMR and how active you are. Going over your TDEE is extra calories and what do you think your body does with the extra? yup! right again! FAT!

When I learned this last Oct. when I joined clubfym.com I was blown away. I was being told that my BMR(or minimum calorie intake) was 1550 and my TDEE(or max calorie) was 2300! And all my prior information from various sources told me that I should be eating 1200 calories! This was epiphany #1

Epipahny #2 came when I decided right then and there that I was going to log my food intake with a food log, I was going to eat normally and just write it all down and count calories- I had never done this before. But I could eyeball a serving size, calorie ranges etc, right?… WRONG! After week one this is what my calorie intake looked like:

monday-800 calories, tuesday: 2300 calories, wednesday: 400 calories, thurday: 2800 calories, etc.

So what was I telling my body nutritionally? I was telling it, I’m not going to consistently give you enough calories to live, I will give you an abundance one day and barely anything the next. My body was out of control and all my efforts were in vain.

Up until these epiphanies I really thought I ate healthy and that I didn’t need much help nutritionally. Everything I bought was low-fat or fat-free, I bought 100 calorie packs instead of the regular stuff, we drank only soda. What I failed to understand is what my body needed. I was feeding my gut, now I feed my muscles- more on that to come!

So here are some links for you to find out where your calorie intake should be:
BMR: remember this is the bare minimum calorie intake your body NEEDS!
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

TDEE: this is your max to stay exactly where you are! you can minus 500 to go for -1lb/week w/ exercise and good nutrition!

Find out what it is! I bet you’ll be surprised, now this is not a free pass to make you feel like now you can order that six-dollar burger 2x a week, but fill your body with clean food- you will be so surprised how much more you will have to eat to make up your calorie goal- on the other hand you will be surprised how fast it can go if you are eating out or eating a lot of processed foods.

Track your current calorie intake! I was sooo surprised that my calorie intake was out of control before, I seriously thought I eyeballed about 1200 calories a day- I was so off. I love thedailyplate.com to track my food, I tell it what I eat and it tells me how many calories! use it! They even have a cool iphone app!

First things first- everyone needs to know their daily calorie range/goal to lose fat and gain lean body mass(muscle), whether you are a calorie counter or not. I now only count calories one week a month to make sure I am still on track. I also use a food scale to make sure I know my portions better.

To your health & fitness!

ps- I got to my pre-pregnancy weight and fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans on December 21st, 2008 🙂

it’s my first time

Hello world, yes, this is my first official blog here on my Fat Mom to Fit Mom blog! I’m excited about where this will go and who I might be able to help, and where I personally will go!

I set up this blog because I want to make a difference in this world…. well, really I want to help people. I feel like God has given me a heart and passion to help people in the areas they feel the weakest. The area this blog with focus on is an area that is near and dear to me. I was sooo lost and alone for a long time, but all that I have gone through and learned has made a world of a difference!

The area in which I speak of is fitness, some call it weight loss, fat loss, looking good in a bikini, whatever- I call it my journey to fitness. It’s so much more then just losing some weight, or looking good in those jeans or losing the baby weight. I strongly feel that it is about being the person God designed me to be.

Let me give you some abbreviated background:

I grew up in a loving Christian home with a mom who struggled with her weight my whole life. I was taught to never waste and to eat everything I was served on my plate. I was not very active because I was busy helping my mom.  So needless to say, I was a chubby baby. I then became a chubby kid, a chubby teen and a chubby adult.

Then- first came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage…. and 30lbs- and that’s just from the baby, that’s not including all those happiness lbs from dating, marriage, etc.

So there I was March 2008, I came home with baby and looked at the scale, I weighed 201lbs with a 42″ waist…. 201lbs don’t look cute on most anyone, but on a 5’1″ latina- it ain’t pretty!

That’s when my journey to fitness began. I didn’t want to be that person I saw in the mirror, I didn’t want to hate myself like I truly did at that point. And what I never want is for my new baby girl to EVER have to go through this ever in her lifetime. It’s painful, the scars we inflict on ourselves or that others do run deep, and at this point I don’t know if they ever heal entirely, but I am proud to say that I am not her anymore. I am a completely changed woman. I have learned and found out so much and I want to tell everyone I know. That’s why this blog has started.

Something I have learned during my journey to fitness is that it’s not just for the fat girl, it’s not just for the new mom to lose her baby belly, or anything like that EVERYONE should be working toward fitness. We, as a society, have grown comfortable with just looking good- what about feeling good? headaches, body aches, sickness, allergies, no energy, tiredness, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, and so much more has so much to do with how you treat your body and what you put into it. My journey to fitness is soo much more then about losing a certian # of lbs or “dieting”!

I hope you continue to check this blog out, here is where I want to help change your life with the experiences and knowledge God has blessed me with on my journey. But why listen to me? who am I? I don’t have a degree in nutrition or in excercise. I’m just an Orange County girl trying to make a difference and am working my butt off to try to help you too!

I have just recieved an e-mail that stated that I have passed my Turbo Kick certification through Powder Blue Productions and I have my Primary Group Fitness Instructor’s certification through AFAA. I hope to soon start working as a group fitness instructor in the South OC area- most likely in women’s gyms. I’m gonna work hard to get as much credibility I can so I can be a somebody worth listening too.

okay, that’s it for now- read more about my story and me at www.TeamBeachBody.com/rruppe this is my site where people can go order supplements and at home workout DVD programs through BeachBody- I’ll blog about this soon, but this is one way that I hope to be able to stay at home and make a few $ and be with my baby Bella.

God Bless you and your fitness goals!
